Life Balance This Month
Actually, lack of balance would be a more accurate term for this month! I was selected for jury duty (lucky me) for a civil case at the end of April that was scheduled in such a way that it was half days over the course of five days over the course of two weeks. That also happened to be the weeks my girls and I had rehearsals for the recital and photos and regular dance classes. And my son has...

A Date
My husband and I haven’t been on a date in…I don’t even know how long. Yesterday, we went to Boston to catch the Red Sox game. It was our first trip to Boston in a while. I love the city, but we don’t get there often enough. And I cancelled my trip to the Museum of Fine Arts the week of the bombings…the children were too nervous (not to mention their Mom)…it...

Inner Athlete...Embraced
Today I completed my first 5k. It was an amazing feeling. I’ve been training…but haven’t managed to run more than 1.5 miles without stopping to walk. And then there was today… Over the past year and a half, I have been working out. I am in quite possibly the best shape of my life. I make time in my busy schedule, going as far as to add workouts and rest days to my...

Returning to normal?
Today I must begin my return to normal. It’s a new normal in the wake of Monday’s events. It’s a normal where I worry about bringing my children to Boston for events…even though I know not going to Boston allows the Monsters to win AND deprives my family of history and culture and professional sports. And since I am not about to give into Monsters, I will return to Boston...

What I Am Grateful for Today...
Over the past year, I have found myself more and more grateful for the friendships I have made over the years. I’m grateful for my childhood friends, the friends with whom I have reconnected in this past year, my colleagues turned friends, and so very grateful for my sorority sisters. The other day, a monster struck at the Boston Marathon. It’s supposed to be a happy event. Elite...

Great Lesson on Stress
My mother, who never forwards emails to me, sent this along because she knew I’d appreciate it. I hope you do, as well. ********* A young lady confidently walked around the room with a raised glass of water while leading a seminar and explaining stress management to her audience. Everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, ‘Half empty or half full?’ She fooled...

A friend reached out to me yesterday. She’s been following my Facebook posts, many of which are motivational posts regarding goal setting, exercising, self-improvement…She complimented my drive, how I manage to “fit” exercise into my day while working full-time, chauffering kids to various activities, volunteering for the school, etc. She feels like she doesn’t have...

I have managed to add, successfully, exercise to my life balance. I feel better about myself now than I have in a very long time. Funny how taking 30-60 minutes to myself can make me feel so much more balanced. It’s making me a better Mom. I feel more productive at work. And, I look pretty good, too. How is your balance?

Coming Full Circle?
Not too long ago, I sat at on a stool at my friend’s kitchen island during a party of some sort…lia sophia…Pampered Chef…I don’t remember. Irrelevant, really, but it was that type of party. As I looked around the room, I realized I knew almost every single person in that room and it wasn’t because I’ve known the hostess for 25+ years. I leaned over to one...
